Última e talvez menos conhecida canção do albúm de estréia de John Mayer "Room for Squares" , St. Patrick's Day é uma canção de amor desfarçada de hino de fim de ano. Isso porque na letra da canção, John passeia sobre os feriados de fim e início de ano como Thanksgivin', Xmas, New Year's, Valentine's até chegar ao homonimo St Patrick's Day. E sempre mencionando ícones da cultura dos Hollydays americanos como o frio, a neve, as roupas de inverno, as casas iluminadas...No entanto, apesar da letra altamente descritiva, é possível perceber, como pano de fundo, um protagonista em busca de um amor de fim de ano, traduzinho o sentimento dessa época em que todos nós ficamos mais sensíveis e queremos alguém que gostamos por perto. E parece que ele já achou a pessoa em questão, e está a conhecendo melhor justamente nessa época, o que é evidenciado pelos versos, "you tell me the name of your brothers, and your favourite colours, i'm leraning you". Resumindo, no one wants to be alone at Xmas time.
